Hello, my name is Elizabeth and for many decades I suffered from depression, anxiety, and just plain poor health in general. I felt like I always had a storm raging inside; one that I couldn’t control, and one that was making me feel terrible and like I was suffocating all the time. Unlike the tiny storms that occur in tea cups this one was enormas, and much like those storms in tea cups, it filled up every part of me.
In Thai Massage there is a philosophy that states that all humans should reach a point when they are awakened to their internal space. When I first heard this philosophy it resonated with me because I had been put in touch with my own inner space many times during my massage sessions.
Receiving great massage from conscientious, caring and well-trained therapist changed the way I looked at myself and the inner movings and functions happening within the internal space of my being.
In my opinion massage isn’t the only way to be awakened to your inner space. Meditation, communing with nature, studying the body, being watchful and kind to all things greater and smaller than you also helps with this awaking. For me, truth, in its purest form, was a vital gateway in opening up this process and the understanding of “self” as it relates to the expansive force that is the supporter and giver of all life.
In your earnest study and focus of this theory you might find other ways to awaken a greater consciousness into your inner space. As this process happens, the storm in the tea cup is quelled and is replaced by a calm understanding of how to act for your health and happiness. Don’t get me wrong this process won’t happen over nignt. Like every worthwhile endeavor this is an excercise and will take time to build strength and proficiency in its execution. From my experience, if you committ yourself to the journey this practice will open up yourself to yourself in a way that is very healing and abundant.
You are on your way. Have fun on your journey of conquering the storm in your personal tea cup!
